Type locality: "ten from Malanda in the jungles" and "one from Cedar Creek", Queensland, Australia. Synonymy by Parker, 1934, Monogr. Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 173; Zweifel, 1962, Am. Mus. Novit., 2113: 6; confirmed by Hoskin, 2012, Zootaxa, 3271: 12.

Distribution

Carbine Tableland (north to Mount Spurgeon), Macalister Range, Kuranda area, Lamb Range, northern Atherton Tablelands and western slope of Mount Bartle Frere. The southern extent of the distribution on the Atherton Tablelands is approximately a line between Mount Baldy (near Atherton) and Butchers Creek at least as far south as: Mount Baldy, Lake Eacham, Gadgarra Forest Reserve, Malanda, Butchers Creek, Gourka Road and the western slope of Mount Bartle Frere, 330-1100 m elevation.

Comment

Hoskin, 2012, Zootaxa, 3271: 1-16, redlimited the species and provided a detailed account, including a redescription of the holotype. Previous literature under this name also refers to populations now included in Cophixalus australis and Cophixalus hinchinbrookensis.
