Cophixalus bewaniensis Kraus and Allison, 2000, J. Herpetol., 34: 535. Holotype: BPBM 13741, by original designation. Type locality: "on the southern slopes of Mt. Menawa, 8.5 km N, 13 km E of Utai Aerodrome, vicinity of Agpo Creek, 3.312° S, 141.700° E, 950 m elevation, Bewani Mts., West Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea".

Known only from the type locality, southern slopes of Mount Menawa, Bewani Mountains, West Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea.
