Phrynomantis fusca Peters, 1867, Monatsber. Preuss. Akad. Wiss. Berlin, 1867: 35. Syntypes: ZMB 5648 (2 specimens), according to Bauer, Günther, and Robeck, 1996, Mitt. Zool. Mus. Berlin, 72: 267. Type locality: "Amboina", Moluccan Is., Indonesia.

Hylophorbus amboinensis Mertens, 1930, Zool. Meded., Leiden, 13: 145. Holotype: RMNH 5315, by original designation and according to Gassó Miracle, van den Hoek Ostende, and Arntzen, 2007, Zootaxa, 1482: 46. Type locality: "Amboin, Molukken", Indonesia. Synonymy by Zweifel, 1972, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 148: 469.

Amboina and Seram Is., Moluccas, Indonesia, and Batanta I., Papua, Indonesia.
