Xenorhina atra Günther, 1896, Novit. Zool., 3: 184. Holotype: not stated; given as BMNH 1896.7.7.3 by Parker, 1934, Monogr. Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 70; now 1947.2.10.78 according to Zweifel, 1972, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 148: 440. Type locality: "Clyde [= Mambare] River, within a few miles of the frontier between British and German New Guinea [Northern Province, Papua New Guinea]". See comments by Zweifel, 1972, Bull. Am. Mus.
