Type locality: "Torricelligebirge" (= Torricelli Mountains), Papua New Guinea. Synonymy (with Austrochaperina macrorhyncha) by Parker, 1934, Monogr. Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 155; Loveridge, 1948, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 101: 421. Synonymy with Chaperina basipalmata by Zweifel, 2000, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 253: 15.

Mountain ranges of the north coast of New Guinea from Tawarin River in Papua (Indonesia) to the Torricelli Mountains southeast of Aitape, Papua New Guinea.
Comment
Removed from the synonymy of Austrochaperina macrorhyncha by Zweifel, 2000, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 253: 14, where it had been placed by Parker, 1934, Monogr. Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 155; and Loveridge, 1948, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 101: 421. Kraus and Allison, 2006, Herpetol. Rev., 37: 364-368, provided a range extension and characterised the range. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 217, provided a brief account.
