Distribution

Lowland rainforest over much of New Guinea, but apparently absent from the eastern half of Papua New Guinea.

Comment

The unjustified emendation (under Article 32.c.ii of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, 1984) of the specific name to turpicula has had widespread use. Tierkd., Dresden, 24: 212, provided a record for he Wondiwoi Mts. of western Papua, Indonesia. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 233-234, provided a brief account.
