Cophixalus biroi darlingtoni Loveridge, 1948, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 101: 423. Holotype: MCZ 25930, by original designation. Type locality: "Toromanbanau, 7,500 feet, Bismarck Range, Madang Division [Chimbu Province], Australian New Guinea [Papua New Guinea]".

Distribution
Central mountain ranges of Papua New Guinea in Southern Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Chimbu, and Western Highlands provinces, generally about 2000 m.

Novit., 3419: 6, noted that this species is not reliably distinguishable from Albericus fafniri on the basis of morphology alone. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 175, provided a brief account. Kraus, 2010, Herpetol. Rev., 41: 246-248, provided a record from the Southern Highlands Province and commented on the range.
