Comment

See accounts by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 197-198, Pope, 1931, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 61: 437-438, Taylor, 1962, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 43: 290-292, and Berry, 1975, Amph. Fauna Peninsular Malaysia: 37. Inger, Orlov, and Darevsky, 1999, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S.,, 92: 41, considered Megophrys longipes to doubtfully range into Vietnam, and Ohler, Swan, and Daltry, 2002, Raffles Bull. Zool., 50: 471, doubted its existence in Cambodia or Vietnam. See brief account and photo by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 80-81. Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 83, provided the Vietnam component of the range. Nutphund, 2001, Amph. Thailand: 84, provided a brief characterization of this species (as Megophrys longipes), but Ohler, 2003, Alytes, 21: 101, suggested that the animal photographed could not be allocated to this species. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 14, provided a number of records from throughout Vietnam; the status of the identifications needs to be evaluated. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 147, provided a photograph of a Vietnamese specimen of this nominal species. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 625, who thought that the records for Vietnam apply to Xenophrys lateralis. Wogan, Vindum, Wilkinson, Koo, Slowinski, Win, Thin, Kyi, Oo, Lwin, and Shein, 2008, Hamadryad, 33: 84, provided the first record for Tanintharyi Division, peninsular Myanmar.
