Leptolalax ventripunctatus Fei, Ye, and Li In Fei, Ye, and Huang, 1990, Key to Chinese Amph.: 95, 213, 274. Holotype: CIB 890063, by original designation. Type locality: Zhushihe, Mengla County, Yunnan Province, altitude 850 m, China; given as " Mengla (21° 29′ N, 101° 15′ E; alt. 850 m), Yunnan Province, China" by Ohler, Wollenberg, Grosjean, Hendrix, Vences, Ziegler, and Dubois, 2011, Zootaxa, 3147: 50. .

English Names

Yunnan Asian Toad (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 86).

Speckle-bellied Metacarpal-tubercled Toad (Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 102).

Distribution

Known from the type locality in extreme southern Yunnan near the Laos border; Phongsaly Province, Laos, and Tam Dao, Vinh Yen District, Vietnam.

Comment

Closely related to Leptolalax oshanensis (= Leptolalax pelodytoides oshanensis of this list) according to the original publication. See also Fei, Ye, and Li, 1992, Acta Biol. Plateau Sinica, 11: 45-54, for redescription. Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 102-103, provided a brief account, figure, and map. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 323-327, provided an account and spot map. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 176, provided a brief account (as Paramegophrys ventripunctatus) including photographs. Ohler, Wollenberg, Grosjean, Hendrix, Vences, Ziegler, and Dubois, 2011, Zootaxa, 3147: 1-83, characterized the species comparatively.
