Leptolalax sungi Lathrop, Murphy, Orlov, and Ho, 1998, Amphibia-Reptilia, 19: 254. Holotype: ROM 28474, by original designation. Type locality: "a stream on the east side of the village of Tam Dao (21° 27′ 31″ N; 105° 38′ 61″ E), elevation 925 m, Vinh Phu Province, Vietnam".

Distribution
Vicinity of the type locality (Tam Dao, Vinh Phu Province) and Yen Bai (Van Yen Province), and, west of the Red River at Van Ban District, Lao Cai Province, in Vietnam; southern Guangxi, China, near the Vietnam border.
Comment
Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 13, provided the Van Yen Province record. Bain, Nguyen, and Doan, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 108, provided a record from Lao Cai Province, Vietnam, and briefly discussed the range. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 299-304, provided an account and spot map (as Paramegophrys sangi [sic]) and reported the species for Guangxi, China. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 175, provided a brief account (as Paramegophrys sangi) including photographs of specimens and habitat. Ohler, Wollenberg, Grosjean, Hendrix, Vences, Ziegler, and Dubois, 2011, Zootaxa, 3147: 1-83, characterized the species comparatively.
