Leptolalax liui Fei and Ye In Fei, Ye, and Huang, 1990, Key to Chinese Amph.: 275. Holotype: CIB 64I1563, by original designation. Type locality: Chong'an, Fujian Province, China, 800 m elevation.

Zhejiang and Fujian west to Guizhou and Guangxi, China.

Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 170-171, provided a brief account (as Paramegophrys liui) including photographs of specimens and habitat. Ohler, Wollenberg, Grosjean, Hendrix, Vences, Ziegler, and Dubois, 2011, Zootaxa, 3147: 1-83, characterized the species comparatively.
