Rana curta Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 461. Syntypes: BMNH 1947.2.10.28-31 according to Guibé, 1978, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 11: 42, and 3 specimens not traced. Type localities: "East Betsileo" and "Ankafana, Betsileo", Madagascar.

Rana inaudax Peracca, 1893, Boll. Mus. Zool. Anat. Comp. Univ. Torino, 8 (156): 7. Syntypes: MZUT An727 (3 specimens) (according to Gavetti and Andreone, 1993, Cat. Mus. Reg. Sci. Nat., Torino, 10: 107); lost according to Guibé, 1978, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 11: 37. Type locality: "dai dintorni di Andrangoloaka e dalla vicina valle dell'Umbi", Madagascar. Given as Andrangoloaka, Madagascar by Andreone in Gavetti and Andreone, 1993, Cat. Mus. Reg. Sci. Nat., Torino, 10: 107. Synonymy by Blommers-Schlösser and Blanc, 1991, Faune de Madagascar, 75: 244. This synonymy questioned by Gavetti and Andreone, 1993, Cat. Mus. Reg. Sci. Nat., Torino, 10: 107.

Madagascar, except for northwestern part.

Comment

Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 236-237, provided an account and noted two similar unnamed species from Ambohitantely and 3) Ankaratra.
