Gephyromantis decaryi Angel, 1930, Bull. Soc. Zool. France, 55: 549. Syntypes: MNHNP 1930.435-438 (according to Guibé, 1950 "1948", Cat. Types Amph. Mus. Natl. Hist. Nat.: 54), MCZ 17549 (on exchange from MNHNP, according to Barbour and Loveridge, 1946, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 96: 115); MNHNP 1930.435 designated lectotype by Blommers-Schlösser and Blanc, 1991, Faune de Madagascar, 75: 206. Type localities: "Madagascar .... Midongy du Sud; prov. de Farafangana, ... en forêt; altit. 500 et 700 mètres .... [and] Pic d'Ivohibe; prov. de Farafangana; ... en forêt; altit. 1100 mètres", Madagascar.

English Names

Decary's Madagascar Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 101).

Distribution

Southeastern Madagascar where known from two geographically quite distant localities, Midongy du Sud (the type locality) and Ranomafana National Park; in Ranomafana, the species is locally common at mid-elevations (ca. 600-1050 m).
