Boophis solomaso Vallan, Vences, and Glaw, 2003, Amphibia-Reptilia, 24: 311. Holotype: NHM 1046010, by original designation. Type locality: "at a site called Analambalotra near Ambavaniasy, 18° 57′ 36″ S, 48° 30′ 00″ E, about 880 m elevation, Moramango Fivondronana, Toamasina Province, central eastern Madagascar".

In the Boophis rappiodes group according to the original publication. In the more exclusive Boophis mandraka group of Vences and Glaw, 2005, Afr. J. Herpetol., 54: 79, and Glaw and Vences, 2006, Organisms Divers. Evol., 6: 240. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 178-179, provided an account.
