Boophis sambirano Vences and Glaw, 2005, Afr. J. Herpetol., 54: 79. Holotype: ZSM 811/2003, by original designation. Type locality: "at a small settlement called 'Camp Norbert' by our guides, 13 56′ 53″ S, 48 27′ 28″ E, ca. 280 m above sea level, Manongarivo Special Reserve, northwestern Madagascar".

Distribution
Known only from with a few kilometers of the type locality (Manongarivo Special Reserve, northwestern Madagascar).

In the Boophis mandraka group of Vences and Glaw, 2005, Afr. J. Herpetol., 54: 79, and Glaw and Vences, 2006, Organisms Divers. Evol., 6: 240. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 178-179, provided an account. Randrianiaina, Strauss, Glos, and Vences, 2012, ZooKeys, 178: 59-124, reported on larval morphology.
