Madagascar, Ed. 3: 152-153, provided an account and noted at least two unnamed similar species (which are now Boophis andrangolaoaka and Boophis piperatus). Andreone, Vences, Glaw, and Randrianirina, 2007, Tropical Zool., 20: 19-39, reported the species from the high plateau of central Madagascar.
