Boophis picturatus Glaw, Vences, Andreone, and Vallan, 2001, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 133: 518. Holotype: ZSM 584-1999, by original designation. Type locality: "An'Ala (18° 56′ S/48° 28′ E, about 840 m above sea level), central eastern Madagascar".

Comment

In the Boophis majori group according to the original publication. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 158-159, provided an account. Grosjean, Randrianiaina, Strauss, and Vences, 2011, Salamandra, 47: 63-76, reported on larval morphology.
