Boophis arcanus Glaw, Köhler, De la Riva, Vieites, and Vences, 2010, Zootaxa, 2383: 16. Holotype: ZSM 298/2006, by original designation. Type locality: "Mahakajy, 21° 16.753′ S, 47°31.823′ E, 577 m a.s.l., southeastern Madagascar".

Distribution
Reliably known only from the type locality (Mahakajy Private Reserve) in south-central eastern Madagascar.
Comment
In the Boophis majori group according to the original publication. Riemann, Ndriantsoa, Vences, Rödel, and Glos, 2012, Zootaxa, 3250: 66-68, reported on male morphology and advertisement call.
