Lechriodus platyceps Parker, 1940, Novit. Zool., 42: 28. Holotype: BMNH 76.7.18.6, by original designation. Type locality: "Arfak, Dutch New Guinea", Irian Jaya, Indonesia.

English Names

Arfak Cannibal Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 94).

Distribution

Mountains of western and central New Guinea, west of approximately 140°, including the Bird's Head.

Comment

Kraus and Allison, 2006, Herpetol. Rev., 37: 364-368, provided a range extension to West Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 61-62, provided a brief account.
