Leptodactylus silvanimbus McCranie, Wilson, and Porras, 1980, J. Herpetol., 14: 361. Holotype: USNM 212046, by original designation. Type locality: "Belén Gualcho, Cordillera de Celaque, Depto. Ocotepeque, Depto. Ocotepeque, Honduras, elevation 1700-1900 m (14° 29′ N, 88° 47′ W)".

English Names

Honduras White-lipped Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 82).

Distribution

Moderate elevations (1470-2000 m) along the continental divide of the mountain ranges Celaque and Merendón in the Departamento Ocotepeque, Honduras.

Comment

In the Leptodactylus pentadactylus group according to the original publication; subsequently transferred to the Leptodactylus melanonotus group by McCranie, Wilson, and Williams, 1986, J. Herpetol., 20: 560-562. See account by McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 455-458. Reviewed by Heyer, de Sá, and Muller, 2002, Cat. Am. Amph. Rept., 743: 1-3. Heyer, de Sá, and Muller, 2005, in Donnelly et al. (eds.), Ecol. Evol. Tropics: 81-101, discussed the phylogenetic relationships of this species. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 38, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras.
