De la Riva and Maldonado-M., 1999, Graellsia, 55: 193-197: 193-197, discussed the morphological indistinguishability of this species from Leptodactylus chaquensis. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 23, suggested that no vouchers for this species exist for Paraguay.
