Syntypes: not stated, by museum records MNRJ 96468, USNM 96469, 96470 (lost); Cochran, 1961, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 220: 61, indicated that USNM 96468-70 were 'cotypes' and 96470 was exchanged with MNRJ. Former USNM 96468 retains that number in the MNRJ collection; USNM 96470 cannot be located according to W.R. Heyer in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 305. Type locality: "Nova Friburgo", Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
