Leptodactylus diedrus Heyer, 1994, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 546: 86. Holotype: UTA A-3726, by original designation. Type locality: "Colombia; Vaupés; 1/2 mi NE Timbó, 1°06′N, 70°01′W".

Distribution
Northwestern sector of the Amazon basin in northeastern Peru, southwestern Colombia, northeastern Brazil, and extreme southern Venezuela.
Comment
In the Leptodactylus wagneri-Leptodactylus podicipinus complex, according to the original publication. Heyer, 1998, Alytes, 16: 1-24, suggested that this species might be the sister taxon of Vanzolinius. Barrio-Amorós, 1999 "1998", Acta Biol. Venezuelica, 18: 42, commented in range in Venezuela.
