Hydrolaetare caparu Jansen, Gonzales-Álvarez, and Köhler, 2007, J. Herpetol., 41: 725. Holotype: MNKA 8302, by original designation. Type locality: "Caparú Ranch (14° 48.795′ S, 61° 09.602′ W; 158 m), Provincia Velasco, Department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia".

Distribution
Known only from the type locality (Capurú Ranch, Provincia Velasco, Department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia) in seasonally flooded riparian forests associated with the Río Paraguay.

Jansen, Bloch, Schulze, and Pfenninger, 2011, Zool. Scripta, 40: 567-583, reported on genetic variation.
