Pseudopaludicola giarettai Carvalho, 2012, Zootaxa, 3328: 48. Holotype: AAG-UFU 0312, by original designation. Type locality: "on the Mato do Engenho smallholding (18° 46′ 08.54″ S; 44° 26′ 53.83″ W, 621 m above sea level), Municipality of Curvelo, State of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil".

Known only from the type locality (Municipality of Curvelo) and about 160 km to the north in Municipality of Buritizeiro, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
