Physalaemus deimaticus Sazima and Caramaschi, 1988 "1986", Rev. Biol., Lisboa, 13: 91. Holotype: JJ 6057, by original designation. Type locality: "km 132 da estrada de Vespasiano c Conceição do Mato Dentro, município de Jaboticatubas, Serra Do Cipó, Minas Gerais, Brasil".

English Names

Jaboticatubas Dwarf Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 83).

Frightening Foam Froglet (Eterovick and Sazima, 2004, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 103).

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Serra Do Cipó, Minas Gerais, Brazil).

Comment

Very similar to Physalaemus rupestris and not assignable to species group, according to the original publication and Caramaschi, Carcerelli, and Feio, 1991, Herpetologica, 47: 148-151. In the Physalaemus deimaticus group of Nascimento, Caramaschi, and Cruz, 2005, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 63: 309. See comment under Physalaemus erythros. Eterovick and Sazima, 2004, Anf.
