Physalaemus aguirrei Bokermann, 1966, Physis, Buenos Aires, 26: 194. Holotype: WCAB 19303, by original designation; now MZUSP. Type locality: "Refugio Sooretama, Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brasil".

Distribution
Southern Bahia and northern Espírito Santo to northeastern Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Comment
In the Physalaemus olfersii group of Nascimento, Caramaschi, and Cruz, 2005, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 63: 311. Van Sluys, 1998, Herpetol. Rev., 29: 49, reported the species for Bahia, Brazil. Carvalho and Nascimento, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 200, provided the first state record for Minas Gerais. Canelas and Filogonio, 2010, Herpetol. Rev., 41: 376, provided an additional record in Minas Gerais and discussed the range.
