In the Physalaemus olfersii group of Nascimento, Caramaschi, and Cruz, 2005, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 63: 311. Van Sluys, 1998, Herpetol. Rev., 29: 49, reported the species for Bahia, Brazil. Carvalho and Nascimento, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 200, provided the first state record for Minas Gerais. Canelas and Filogonio, 2010, Herpetol. Rev., 41: 376, provided an additional record in Minas Gerais and discussed the range.
