Removed from the synonymy of Eleutherodactylus bolbodactylus by Pombal and Cruz, 1999, Bol. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, N.S., Zool., 404: 1-10, where it had been placed by Lynch, 1968, Copeia, 1968: 875-876. In the Ischnocnema lactea species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 27.
