Eleutherodactylus erythromerus Heyer, 1984, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 402: 24. Holotype: MZUSP 59640, by original designation. Type locality: "Brazil: Rio de Janeiro; near Teresópolis (Alto do Soberbo, 5 km NE junction BR 116 and Teresópolis bypass)".

Known only from the vicinity of the type locality near Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 800-1000 m elevation.
