Comment

Laurent, 1972, Explor. Parc Natl. Virunga, Ser. 2, 22: 54, and Schiøtz, 1975, Treefrogs E. Afr.: 68, noted the possibility that Phlyctimantis verrucosus, and Phlyctimantis leonardi (including Phlyctimantis boulengeri) might represent parts of a single cline. Laurent, 1976, Ann. Mus. R. Afr. Cent., Tervuren, Ser. Octavo, Sci. Zool., 213: 25, believed they are distinct species, as did Drewes, 1984, Occas. Pap. California Acad. Sci., 139: 1-70. Laurent, 1976, Ann. Mus. R. Afr. Cent., Tervuren, Ser. Octavo, Sci. Zool., 213: 23-29, provided and account. See account by Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 213-214.
