Hyperolius occidentalis Schiøtz, 1967, Spolia Zool. Mus. Haun., 25: 193. Holotype: ZMUC R076225, by original designation. Type locality: "near the forestry resthouse in Kassewe Forest Reserve, Sierra Leone".

Distribution
Coastal lowlands of Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, and Sierra Leone.
Comment
Very similar to Hyperolius picturatus according to the original publication, possibly conspecific according to Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 113. Gambia record by Barnett, Emms, and Santoni, 2001, Herpetol. Bull., London, 77: 8.
