Hyperolius lucani Rochebrune, 1885, Bull. Soc. Philomath., Paris, Ser. 7, 9: 91. Type(s): "Museo Bouvieri"; now presumably in MNHNP (and unrecognized as a type) if still extant. Type locality: "Locam Landana dictum, in frondibus Borassorum", Cabinda enclave, Angola.

Distribution
Known only from the type locality (Cabinda, Angola).

Probably a synonym of Hyperolius ocellatus according to R. Laurent in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 212. Not mentioned by Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr..
