Hyla horstockii Schlegel, 1837, Abbild. Neuer Unvollst. Amph., 1: 24. Syntypes: RMNH 1775, 10770 (2 specimens); RMNH 1775 designated lectotype by Poynton, 1963, Ann. Natal Mus., 15: 332. Type locality: "Vorgebirge der guten Hoffnung "(= Cape of Good Hope), Western Cape Province, Rep. South Africa.

Southern seaboard of Rep. South Africa, from Cape Town (Western Cape Province) to Tsitsikama National Park in the western part of Eastern Cape Province.
