Comment

Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 105, noted that the three subspecies are allopatric and diagnosable. See comments by Rödel, 1998, Rev. Fr. Aquar. Herpetol., 25: 128-129. Rödel, 2000, Herpetofauna W. Afr., 1: 221-224, provided an account. Rödel and Branch, 2002, Salamandra, 38: 259, noted that the name covers three described subspecies and two additional similar species restricted to Tai National Park and the Mont Nimba region. Schiøtz, 1963, Vidensk. Medd. Dansk Naturhist. Foren., 125: 66-69, provided records for Nigeria. Segniagbeto, Bowessidjaou, Dubois, and Ohler, 2007, Alytes, 24: 77, commented on the presence of this species in Togo. See comments by Rödel, Gil, Agyei, Leaché, Diaz, Fujita, and Ernst, 2005, Salamandra, 41: 118, who suggested that Hyperolius fusciventris fusciventris, Hyperolius fusciventris lamtoensis, and Hyperolius fusciventris burtoni might be distinct species. See account for Cameroon by Amiet, 2012, Rainettes Cameroun: 303-312.
