Hyperolius brachiofasciatus Ahl, 1931, Das Tierreich, 55: 361. Syntypes: ZMB unnumbered, according to the original publication; lost, according to R. Laurent in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 208. Type locality: "Ngoto, Lobaje-gebiet, Westafrika [Central African Republic]". The description in Ahl, 1931, Mitt. Zool. Mus. Berlin, 17: 87, appeared a few weeks later according to unpublished notes by A. Loveridge (fide R. Laurent).

English Names

Ngoto Reed Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 66).

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Ngoto in southwestern Central African Republic), a locality in central Rep. Congo, and from several localities in central Dem. Rep. Congo.

Comment

Not mentioned by Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.. Schiøtz, 2006, Alytes, 24: 41-43, provided a discussion and reported specific localities in central Dem. Rep. Congo. Jackson and Blackburn, 2007, Salamandra, 43: 149-164, provided a record for Nouabale-Ndoki National Park, Rep. Congo.
