Stor. Nat. Milano, 106: 94. Type locality: "Pozzi di Gondaraba", Ethiopia. Synonymy by Largen, 1998, Tropical Zool., 11: 75.

Synonymy with Hyperolius concolor by Schiøtz, 1967, Spolia Zool. Mus. Haun., 25: 179, with Rappia balfouri by Schiøtz, 1975, Treefrogs E. Afr.: 115.

Distribution

Cameroon through Central African Republic, central Dem. Rep. Congo and South Sudan to Uganda and southwestern Ethiopia and western Kenya, possibly into southern Chad.

In the Hyperolius concolor superspecies and including Hyperolius viridistriatus, according to Schiøtz, 1975, Treefrogs E. Afr.: 112. Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 129, suggested that the subspecies might be unwarranted. Largen, 2001, Tropical Zool., 14: 358, commented on distribution. Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 154, provided an account for East Africa. Schiøtz, 2006, Alytes, 24: 40-60, reported the species from Bokuma in central Dem. Rep. Congo. Jackson and Blackburn, 2007, Salamandra, 43: 149-164, provided a record for Nouabale-Ndoki National Park, Rep. Congo. Jacobsen, 2009, Afr.
