Distribution

Known only from the region of the type locality (Isaka, Madagascar).

Comment

Blommers-Schlösser, 1982, Beaufortia, 32: 7, removed this species from the synonymy of Heterixalus tricolor, where it had been placed by Guibé, 1978, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 11: 86. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 100, provided an account and who suggested that possibility that this taxon may be a color variant of Heterixalus madagascariensis.
