Megalixalus madagascariensis var. alboguttata Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 129. Syntypes: BMNH 80.7.15.13-14 and 74.4.25.2-3, according to R. Laurent in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 205. Type locality: "S.E. Betsileo" and "Madagascar (?)".
