Comment

See Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 84-85, for account. Amiet, 2000, Alytes, 17: 125-164, reviewed and redefined the genus. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, in their study of Genbank sequences, placed Alexteroon well within Hyperolius, militating against the recognition of this taxon.
