Megalixalus weidholzi Mertens, 1938, Zool. Anz., 123: 244. Holotype: NHMW 16811 according to Häupl and Tiedemann, 1978, Kat. Wiss. Samml. Naturhist. Mus. Wien, 2: 25. Type locality: "10 km südlich Diénoundialla, Senegal".

Megalixalus schoutedeni Laurent, 1941, Rev. Zool. Bot. Afr., 35: 130. Holotype: MRAC 2437, by original designation. Type locality: "Dramba (Ituri)", Dem. Rep. Congo. Synonymy by Laurent, 1951, Ann. Soc. R. Zool. Belg., 82: 28.

Weidholz's Banana Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 66).

Distribution

Isolated records from Gambia, Senegal, Togo, Ghana, north-central Cameroon, and southern Mali to northeastern Dem. Rep. Congo (on the South Sudan border) in savannas.

Herpetol., 18: 96, suggested that this species will be found in southern Mauritania. Wanger, 2005, Salamandra, 41: 27-33, provided Gambia records, as did Emms, Jambang, Bah, Mankali, Rödel, and Barnett, 2005, Herpetol. Bull., London, 94: 6-16. Segniagbeto, Bowessidjaou, Dubois, and Ohler, 2007, Alytes, 24: 76, commented on the presence of this species in Togo. Amiet, 2009, Rev. Suisse Zool., 116: 53-92, provided an account for Cameroon.
