Phasmahyla Cruz, 1991 "1990", Rev. Brasil. Biol., 50: 721. Type species: Phyllomedusa guttata Lutz, 1924, by original designation.

English Names

Shining Leaf Frogs (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 61).

Distribution

Southeastern Brazil from eastern Minas Gerais and central Espírito Santo to eastern Paraná.

Comment

Formerly considered to constitute the Phyllomedusa guttata group. Faivovich, Haddad, Baêta, Jungfer, Álvares, Brandão, Sheil, Barrientos, Barrio-Amorós, Cruz, and Wheeler, 2010, Cladistics, 26: 235, on the basis of an extensive molecular analysis suggested Phasmahyla to be the sister taxon of Phyllomedusa.
