Hyla ewingi var. alpina Fry, 1915, Proc. R. Soc. Queensland, 27: 79. Holotype: AMS R4644 according to Cogger, 1979, Rec. Aust. Mus., 32: 173. Type locality: "Mount Kosciusko, Monaro District, Southern tableland, New South Wales", Australia. Synonymy with Hyla verreauxii by Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: ix, 141. Elevated to species status without discussion by Wells and Wellington, 1985, Aust. J. Herpetol., Suppl. Ser., 1: 6.

Type locality: "near Porter's Retreat, N[ew]. S[outh]. W[ales].", Australia. Secondary homonym of Nyctimystes loveridgei Neill, 1954.
