Hyla rueppelli Boettger, 1895, Zool. Anz., 18: 137. Syntypes: SMF (5 specimens); also BMNH 95.10.26.19-22 according to Condit, 1964, J. Ohio Herpetol. Soc., 4: 95; SMF 2614 designated lectotype by Mertens, 1967, Senckenb. Biol., 48(A): 42. Type locality: "Nord-Halmahaira [sic]", corrected to "Kau, N-Halmaheira, Moluccas", Indonesia by Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 147.
