Nyctimystes tyleri Zweifel, 1983, Am. Mus. Novit., 2759: 16. Holotype: AMNH 82878 (erroneously given as 82867 in the original publication—R. G. Zweifel in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 197), by original designation. Type locality: "elevation of about 1280 m. at Gapaia Creek, between Garaina and Saureli, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea".
