Holotype: Originally in the "Museum of the Amateur Fisherman's Association of Queensland"; now AMS R4379 according to Cogger, 1979, Rec. Aust. Mus., 32: 174 (who considered it the holotype), although Shea and Sadlier, 1999, Tech. Rep. Aust. Mus., 15: 6, note that the original description was based on two specimens. Type locality: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Synonymy by Loveridge, 1935, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 78: 7, 37; Copland, 1957, Proc. Linn. Soc. New South Wales, 82: 21.

East coast of Australia from the Cape York Peninsula to northeastern New South Wales.
