Zool., Ser. 2, 20: 502, and Czechura, Ingram, and Liem, 1987, Rec. Aust. Mus., 39: 333; NHMW 17187 (holotype of Nyctimystes vestigia) designated neotype by Czechura, Ingram, and Liem, 1987, Rec. Aust. Mus., 39: 335. Type locality: "Bartle Frere Mountains", northeastern Queensland, Australia.

Type locality: "Malanda", Queensland, Australia. Synonymy by Loveridge, 1935, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 78: 7; Copland, 1957, Proc. Linn. Soc.
