Hyla mesophaea Hensel, 1867, Arch. Naturgesch., 33: 154. Holotype: Not designated; ZMB 6810 according to Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 154. Type locality: "Provinz S. Pedro de Rio Grande do Sul", Brazil; given as "Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil" by Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 154.
