Dryomelictes Cope, 1865, Proc. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia, 17: 194. Type species: Hyla aurantiaca Daudin, 1802, by original designation. Preoccupied by Dryomelictes Fitzinger, 1843. Synonymy by Myers and Leviton, 1961, Herpetologica, 17: 62.

Hylopsis Werner, 1894, Zool. Anz., 17: 156. Type species: Hylopsis platycephalus Werner, 1894, by monotypy.

Sphoenorhynchus — Lutz and Lutz, 1938, An. Acad. Brasil. Cienc., 10: 175. Incorrect subsequent spelling.

Sphoenohyla Lutz and Lutz, 1938, An. Acad. Brasil. Cienc., 10: 178. Type species: Hyla aurantiaca Daudin,1802, by original designation. Named as an explicit subgenus of Hyla because Sphaenorhynchus thought erroneously to be preoccupied by Sphenorhynchus Lichtenstein, 1823 (Aves).

Distribution

Amazon and Orinoco basins of South America; Guianas; and eastern Brazil; Trinidad.
