Hyla machadoi Bokermann and Sazima, 1973, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 33: 521. Holotype: WCAB 46847, by original designation; now in MZUSP. Type locality: "km 121, Serra do Cipó, Jaboticatubas, Minas Gerais, Brasil".

In the Scinax catharinae clade, Scinax catharinae group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 95-96. Canelas and Bertoluci, 2007, Iheringia, Zool., 97: 21-26, provided a record for the Serra do Caraça, southern end of the Serra do Espinhaço, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Eterovick and Sazima, 2004, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 67-68, provided a photograph and brief account.
