Brasil., Heft 7: pl. 43, fig. 3; KU 125383 designated neotype by Duellman and Wiens, 1992, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 151: 5. Type locality: "S. Agnés" (= Santa Inês), Bahia, Brazil. Neotype from "Maracás, Estado do Bahia, Brasil." This neotype designation not necessary to disintguish Hyla aurata from Hyla cuspidata as the latter does not occur in Bahia, Brazil (DRF).
